Cannot view passes on HST Map ?

Post by SSSdave »

Brought up the HST map page but pass name features were not being displayed despite carefully checking optional boxes. Logged in and out of HST twice but same issue. Same issue if accessed in various ways say from the HST Passes page. Notice the page interface has changed since I used it last summer so may be the result of recent changes.

Some kind soul made a Caltopo map with the HST passes. It includes the links to the relevant HST page for the pass and you can search using Ctrl + F, which makes it quite handy.

Hi Dave,

I just checked and everything worked fine. Is anyone else having issues accessing it?

I don't give out specific route information, my belief is that it takes away from the whole adventure spirit of a trip, if you need every inch planned out, you'll have to get that from someone else.

I had no difficulties

I think I need a tutorial on how to make this map work. Check the appropriate box, then hit search? Nope.

Click on the High Sierra Topix Map, then check the Cross Country Passes box, and voila. :)

Friday evening 5/30/25, trying this again. Have shutdown this Windows 11 system several times and logged in and out of HST a few times. Using Firefox and recently cleared all Data/History/Cookies. Just logged in.

On HST Map page. Selected Trails, Cross Country passes, Trails only. Default map shows USA Topo with Sabrina to South Lake displaying large scale. Can now see pass icons unlike before. See passes for most of southern Sierra and Ritter Range but none west of Warrior Ridge on the Silver Divide even if zoomed in. This is where I was looking the other day.

Moved to Cross Country Passes page. Changed to Subject, Ascending. Can see Warrior Ridge in listing. Can go into listing for Graveyard Pass. See my post there where I note it is also called "Silver Fox Pass". At the top of the page under LOCATION has a link. Selecting link brings one to the correct location on the map but without any icon showing on the map.

Also brought up Margaret-Beetlebug Pass and that icon is also missing from that map, so maybe more?

So looks like the issue is just local western section of Silver Divide, west of Mammoth, south of Beck Lakes for just displaying the map icons. Need to check that pass icons in those areas correctly display.

Those passes are not on the map not due to a technical glitch, but that they do not seem to have been created on the map itself. At this time only a select few of us have permissions to edit the items displayed on the map, so thanks for letting us know
