I don't give out specific route information, my belief is that it takes away from the whole adventure spirit of a trip, if you need every inch planned out, you'll have to get that from someone else.

Significant change. The debate isn't new, nor will it be over. There are still unresolved complaints in the legal system, along with appeals.
§5103. Legal tender -- United States coins and currency (including Federal reserve notes and circulating notes of Federal reserve banks and national banks) are legal tender for all debts, public charges, taxes, and dues. Foreign gold or silver coins are not legal tender for debts.

Meaning that technically Cash is still king over all forms of payment.

Though, the official battle has been clarified, but not concluded. National Park Service wins legal battle over controversial cashless policy

Legal Tender and debts is the key part. If you have not entered the park, then you don't owe it any money yet, so there is no debt. This is why gas stations can say they won't take $100 bills and restaurants can say "no cash". Before a transaction occurs, there are no debts, so there can be limits on acceptable means of payments.
