Good morning everyone! I’ve been lurking here for a while, but haven’t posted yet, and figured this thread would be a good place to start.

I’m 26 years old. I spent a lot of my summers growing up hiking and car camping in the Tahoe area. But, despite my mother’s love for it, I never went backpacking.

After a false start in 2023 due to snowpack intimidation, I went backpacking for the first time last summer. I was instantly smitten, particularly with my first trip to the High Sierra region, and I’ve been counting the days till I can go back.

Thank you all for the wisdom and collected knowledge presented in this forum. It’s been in invaluable tool for planning, learning more about the craft, and just seeing pretty pictures of mountains.

Hi BaDumCrash,

Welcome to HST! :)
Professional Sierra Landscape Photographer

I don't give out specific route information, my belief is that it takes away from the whole adventure spirit of a trip, if you need every inch planned out, you'll have to get that from someone else.

Have a safer backcountry experience by using the HST ReConn Form 2.0, named after Larry Conn, a HST member: http://reconn.org
