I am not sure it has not been mentioned, but an equally important issue this time of year are creek crossings.

Could consider something down out of Horseshoe meadows. Cottonwood lakes will probably still be snowy, but you can head south over trail pass then loop back over mulkey or cottonwood pass depending on how far you want to go. There's no quota on the permit so no need to stress.

I've also found that Big Pine creek melts out sooner than people realize. At least to the first couple of lakes. Kearsarge will be very snowy. Hetch Hetchy is a good idea, if anything it could be too hot.
