Editing posts option is missing?

Instead of emailing or messaging the Admins or Mods with technical support questions or comments about the site, we prefer you check here to see if someone else has had the same difficulty or has made the same suggestion. What you're after might have already been posted and addressed here or within the FAQ. If not, please post a detailed description of the problem/suggestion and someone from the HST team will address your needs shortly. If you can't login/post and are unable to reset your password on your own, you may contact us directly.

Thanks Phil. I'll try to refine my PC version of your method. Still, my main problem is an interest in reworking my text. I too, now write everything elsewhere first, so I should be able to get it right before submitting. As you see here (1:20 AM), I often don't begin till late hours, since my days are too full. I am better in the AM with strong coffee.
At this point I regret adding to this post, and hope Greg ignores me.

This isn't a huge deal... as Nancy said, as long as it's easily understandable... for instance, no matter how one spells Kawihah, Kawea, or Kaweah Basin-- it's still a fantastic place to be.

I don't give out specific route information, my belief is that it takes away from the whole adventure spirit of a trip, if you need every inch planned out, you'll have to get that from someone else.

I assume the spam is from new accounts that post something innocuous and then edit later once the post has been approved / there's less eyeballs on it.

I had assumed this was for social reasons - it is annoying if someone rewrites their entire post, changing facts, etc after it's responded to. It's probably not a major impact on the more subjective forums, but it's not great for the more objective stuff like the fishing hole or xc passes. I was able to find out the CDFW names for some unnamed lakes, but instead of just being able to update my original fishing report had to copy and paste a large chunk of it as a comment later on. There's a pass entry I wanted to update, which is less usable as a comment tacked further down.

re: "Kawihah, Kawea, or Kaweah", this does impact search results, though search here is unwieldy to begin with.

I'm overly not familiar with PhPBB, but I'd have to imagine there's something like an "edit own posts" permission that could be disabled for the newly registered users group while keeping it available for people with over X posts.
