Gas Prices: Affecting Your Sierra Nevada Travel?
Just curious how big of a factor (if any) gas prices are in everybody's Sierra Nevada travel planning.

I put other because I'm not sure if I will do less trips but I wll most likely try to stay an extra day or two to get the most out of the ones I do take.

Yah. I debated whether or not to include an option for that; and also one for those whose plans might have shifted towards Sierra destinations located a little closer to home.gary c. wrote:I put other because I'm not sure if I will do less trips but I wll most likely try to stay an extra day or two to get the most out of the ones I do take.

Since I'm coming from the east coast, and only make one trip per year, I'll have to suck it up on the gas prices. I thought they were high last year at $4 per gallon. I voted "other".

It's a matter of priorities. We are cutting back elsewhere to pay the monthly gas bill. The sanity breaks on weekends is too important to curtail. (I just filled up my truck today for $130. The curse of a large gas tank and letting it get real low.

I agree, priorities. 120 consecutive weekends out, I can’t stop now because of gas prices. I'll cut back somewhere else.

No. I won't let it happen, even if I have to go into debt.

Re: Gas Prices: Affecting Your Sierra Nevada Travel?
Other was my vote. We ended up locking our trip into only the eastern Sierra with the use public transportation to and from Reno. No car or rental needed. If gas prices weren't so high we may have rented a car and drive to San Fransisco and follow the coast south, not instead of our Sierra trip but in addition to. Thus we will be hiking out of Tuolumne, Mammoth, and Bishop, using both the CREST and YARTS buses.
