Thanks for yet another stellar trip report with your usual excellent photos. Upper Virginia Canyon is one of my favorite areas, I need to get back there soon.

Hey gazelle, "another great area" that I chased you through! This is the trip we did there in January:

Look familiar Kristine?

You were way up ahead, lucky for me, skis leave tracks to follow.

And you were nice enough to wait for me at the bottom of the hills.

Before pulling away again. That was a fun trip, and you truly are a fine skier.

It is a great area in any season.

What a wonderful fall trip! Looks like you had great weather. I love that area with its colorful peaks. Did you have wind in the Green Creek drainage? I've had to abort two trips up Green Creek due to extreme winds.

That was a great trip, bummer I was sick, we should go somewhere again? I have day hiked that area a couple more times since that trip. My name in a few registers up that way.

Thanks for the report! Those are beautiful fall colors everywhere, but especially at Sagehen Summit. See any fish in Return Lake?

Thanks wind. I reckon you will know which fish came from where. We caught fish in 4 of the lakes we fished. I suppose you will be interested in the actual size of the fish. Note that I always use the largest diameter red stringer-- this one is the 25 mm line, roughly 1" :

Thanks for the trip report. The fall color is wonderful. I've gotten stuck with kids' events this month and this is a great fix to my mountain-sick.

Great trip. I was over in Emigrant the same time. You certainly got the better fall colors at your elevations. I am jealous. And you got many more fish. I am double jealous!

The combination of the Aspen colors and the red rock of the mountains certainly is picturesque. I have only day-hiked up from Virginia Lake to Coony Lake. It was crawling with people when I did it. I did a loop: Green Lake-Summit Lake- Soldier Lake-Return Lake-Virgina Pass- then off-trail straight down the drainage from Virginia Pass back to Green Lake. Hardly saw anyone on that trip.

That climb of Virginia Peak looked really sketchy. Was the rock as brittle as it looked? I am not fond of climbing on that kind of rock; really prefer granite. You are braver than me.
