Crabtree Trailhead opens today
I just called the Stanislaus NF and the road to Crabtree TH will open today. To get a permit you call no more than 3 days ahead and pick up the permit at the main Ranger Station near Pinecrest. They also said it is easy to re-do a permit if needed to accommodate weather changes. Highway to Kennedy Meadows Road is open, not sure about dirt road to lodge (?? is that a private road??). Geanilli road is closed.

Re: Crabtree Trailhead opens today
Sweet! Thanks for the update Wandering Daisy.
PS -- I visited Kennedy Meadows last weekend. They are very open for business, serving meals in their restaurant and cabins being rented. I chatted with the clerk in their general store and she said a PCT thru-hiker came through last weekend (!!!); it's pretty dang early in the season for thru-hikers, but with the low snow levels crazy things are happening.

Also opening are the Kennedy Meadows Trailhead and Bell Meadows Trailhead.

I don't give out specific route information, my belief is that it takes away from the whole adventure spirit of a trip, if you need every inch planned out, you'll have to get that from someone else.

How are snow conditions that way? I've looked at EOSDIS, but am curious about first-hand reports from the Emigrant Wilderness!
