Hi WD,
Did you hike upstream or downstream from the Salmon Falls crossing along the American River? Downstream a couple of miles, there are enormous fields of lupine along the lake shore, unless the lake level has risen high enough to drown them. I mean, it drowns them eventually, but in most years you get a really nice bloom before the lake level rises. I'm wondering if you saw these lupine fields?
