Woodchuck Country Trip Reports
For some reason, I didn't occur to me to post reports for my trips of 2016 because I spent less than two weeks in the mountains and only went to one new area. I looked at the photos the other day and thought some of them might be worth sharing. Hope you agree. Go to: http://www.sierrahiker.com/Trips2016/index.html

Hey Mike. Even though we don't cover the ground we used to, I think it's a good idea to let younger folks know its still possible to get out and enjoy the wilds at an advanced age.

Re: Woodchuck Country Trip Reports
That's an amazing stand of pussypaws.
I'd like to return to the anemone location earlier in the season when they are flowering. So Dr. Suess had a name for a plant with a look similar to the anemone in fruit and called it the Truffula Tree. I wonder if he was copying nature or if the shape came from his imagination.
I have a feeling the extensive stand of Lewisia leeana nearby would be spectacular in bloom. I'm looking forward to returning next summer.
Your flower photos are outstanding, Tom.

I was there the first week of September and really enjoyed all of the Truffula Trees!will_jrob wrote:RE Western Anemone:

I'm still rather convinced that you can achieve more than you've ever dreamed of if you just lower your standards.
