What's New for Heavenly - Winter 2005/2006
Heavenly Mountain Resort celebrates fifty years of providing extraordinary experiences to its guests with $6 million in capital improvements for the 2005-06 season. Heavenly also celebrates an epic 2004-05 snow season and its highest ranking ever in SKI Magazine's Top 50 Resort Guide.
The on-mountain improvements include increased off-piste access, expanded grooming and snowmaking capabilities, superior terrain parks, improved signage, enhanced on-mountain dining, and a four-day party celebrating fifty years in the business. Heavenly has now spent $36 million in on-mountain capital since Vail Resorts, Inc. purchased the resort in Spring 2002.
The Big News:
Heavenly's 50th Anniversary festivities kick off on Thursday, December 15th with an all-day birthday party that includes lift ticket promotions and on-mountain events. The party continues through the weekend with a block party featuring special events such as the Warren Miller Experience, fireworks, rail jams, live music, lift ticket deals, on-mountain themed promotions every day, bar parties around town every night, an extreme sports film festival, and exclusive vacation packages.
Tree Skiing:
Heavenly is opening up the trees, which hide some of the best skiing in North America. No longer the best-kept local secret, all Heavenly's guests will have access to the sweet powder stashes found in Northbowl Woods, Powderbowl Woods, Skiways Glades, Scorpion Woods and Dipper Woods. New trail signage is posted to alert skiers to one of the best skiing experiences around.
Terrain Parks:
Freeriders will flip for the "sick" terrain features found in Heavenly's High Roller Terrain Parks and the largest superpipe in the Tahoe Basin carved by a monster 22-foot Zaugg pipe cutter, one of only two in North America. Heavenly will also debut its new High Roller Night Life Terrain Park where riders can "go big" all night long. The resort now boasts five terrain parks with varying degrees of difficulty so every level of park rider can get their "jib" on!!
