Normally I would prefer the mirror look but between them my pick would be number two. To be honest with you though both pictures are too dark for me to hang in my house. My wife and I bought a beautiful picture at an outdoor market in Hawaii. It is an evening picture of the beach and mountains with mostly dark blue overtones to it. Outside in the midle of the day it was simply gorgeous. Once we got it home and tried to hang it there was no place in the house that it look right. It just looked like a shiney dark blue blob on the wall.

Gary- I too tend to like brighter photos - my husband likes the darker ones. We have good quality spotlights on all our photos that hang on the wall and it makes a huge difference. I can tolerate even the darker ones if they are in the spotlight. You can try different bulbs - some cast different light hues and you can find the one that enhances the photo the best. I think there are even battery operated picture lights that clip on the frames.

Thank you for everyone chiming in with their picks.

Gary- As WD mentioned spotlights can be used and makes a huge difference.
My pieces are printed into aluminum and the colors pop much more than any
paper so they seem brighter than what one sees on their computer screens.
When doing home showings or sometimes may even visit a persons home to view
the spot they intent to hang the piece, the brightness may be adjusted for
the particular area, but this happens very rarely since many of my clients are
art collectors and have lighting already set up for this purpose.

I understand what you guys mean about the lighting. I know it makes all the difference, it's just not likely to happen around our place. I think they are both beautiful though.

I prefer the first image - second one just loses some of its balance and feels too bright in the foreground. At least when I toggle back and forth, that brighter foreground just doesn't mesh as well with the dark sky. Also, the water looks almost like computer graphics, with a scale issue caused by the extreme perspective.

These two photos evoke two very different emotions from me. The first gives me a sense of calm and awe, while the second arouses a slight sense of turmoil, like the world could be ending with that magical sunset and the boiling water in the foreground.

Both are very nice, thanks for posting.

Normally, I would prefer #1, I love a great reflection. But I think #2 is more memorable, and distinctive. Both are tremendous.
