I planned on photographing the moon Friday afternoon from Glacier Point. Unfortunately clouds obscured the moon. Went for plan "B" instead...

Congrats Mike. A person could be up there dozens of afternoons and never see that nice of clouds and light. A wise photographer pays their dues enough sitting on icons and eventually the odds chance will offer something good may come to pass.

Not sure if I'm a "real photographer", but I got lucky the last two visits to Glacier Point and I had some great colorful sunsets.

All levels of landscape photographers need luck/help from mother
nature too be able to capture those special moments. Being there at
the right time, persistence, knowing how too use you equipment, and
post processing doesn't not mean much if she doesn't gift you with some
special light, clouds, colors or a combo of any these. Sure experience
over the years will allow one too have a higher than average success rate
in capturing those special moments, but she still makes you work for every
second and instead of getting frustrated when a sunset doesn't produce
the colors expected or clouds disappear into thin air as fast as they
developed, one learns patience, and gains knowledge from these experiences
so he or she can be prepared for the next round.
