I crossed Frog Creek several times at high water. I never waded it. Each time I hiked along the creek looking for a log jam. Fortunately I always found one. That creek's a log jam waiting to happen.

You found full span logs this year? we searched quite a ways for a full span log jam prior to roping up; but we never found logs that spanned the full width (one came with about 7-8 feet, but those 7-8 feet were the fastest/deepest spot in the river).

I didn't just find full span logs. I found complete log jams. The things Frog creek have going for it is the sides are not granite so that much of the creek is below the banks and that it is quite narrow in places. I guess I just had a lot of luck. But on the other hand I never crossed in a year like this one because (if I'm not mistaken) there has not been a year like this one since I began BP in the Sierra 40 years ago.

Thanks for the trip report. Photos were wonderful too - slightly off topic: What camera did you use? Lens? Thanks! ~Eileen
