Since the Canadian Forces purchased six CH-47Ds from the U.S. Army, its personnel have been training with National Guard units throughout the U.S., including mountain training with B Company of the 1st Battalion, 126th General Support Aviation Battalion (GSAB) out of Stockton, Calif. A California Army National Guard CH-47D performs a two-wheeled landing at an altitude of 11,200 feet during training in the Sierra Nevada Mountains. The Chinooks and aircrews from B Company of the 1st Battalion, 126th GSAB out of Stockton, Calif., regularly train in the mountains due to their close proximity to the terrain. Skip Robinson Photo.
