VIVA LA SIERRA INSPIRATION PHOTOTHON!! Keep it alive!

This shot was taken at sunset in the western Ionian Basin near lake 12,300 at the base of Mt. Goddard, looking south toward Blue Canyon. Finger Peak and the White Divide is on the right. Not sure which peak is illuminated on the left...Blue Canyon Peak? Tunemah? SEKI August 2010

neither one.

in your latest picture posted (lake 11818 with finger peak beyond)
the pink colored rock is around 11750 in elevation...
it's just below the small tarn just south of lake 11818...
just west of the creekbed right before the elevation begins to drop off to lake 10220.

never seen pink rock like that before.
speaking of pink...

I call this my "Mono Kraken" - 1989, long ago, when the water was much lower than today.

my last shot was taken above this small lake which is at about 12,200. Now I know the area you're talking about, but I haven't explored (not yet) between Ionian and lake 10,232. The rock in Ionian is messed up.

oh, ok. i see the lake you are talking aboput now.... my mistake.
so yeah, the pink rock in question is about 1/2 mile southwest of the lake 12200 in your picture.
i mistook that lake to be lake 11818, which it's clearly not.

if you get back in there again, check out the lake at the northern base of scylla:

p.s. confusion pass - that image sure brings back a memory. i slept overnite on top right on that very spot. it was a warm nite & i just slept out on those rocks. melted some snow for drinking water.

We walked over to the edge of Confusion Lake and found a nice sheltered place to camp on a shelf just north of the lake. Awesome views from here.
