Dave! Thanks for sharing your thoughts on the photo as well as high country information. I usually don't go out when it is going to be raining, but i really was blown away by the beauty that was before me. Clouds add sooo much drama and good light! I really like your photo from L lake as well. Very similar conditions.

I am really impressed by East Vidette Mountain, seen glowing in the middle left of "Summit's" great image. After seeing it over the years in summer, I couldn't wait to see it with a coat of snow.

Finally got there- here it is in late May of this year.

This is overlooking Secret Lake in 20 Lakes Basin on August 12, 2017. I was impressed by the amount of snow still left on a south-facing slope after the big winter as well as all the red algae growing everywhere.

It would've if I was hungry enough. I did start craving them, though. Might've gone well with Pack of Oreos Peak in the background.

@Rams Love all the snow on the peaks...it really is the best! I can't even imagine how difficult it must have been to get that far into the backcountry with all that snow. did you camp on snow as well?

Glad you like it Sierra_Summits. While there was tons of snow, you could walk around it and avoid it if you wanted to. I thought I'd save time by taking a shortcut through snow instead of a bare path encircling Steelhead Lake. I was wrong. These pictures were from a dayhike so my campsite consisted of the front seat of my friend's car. Lots of people were camped out on dry ground in this vicinity, though.

Hey "Sierra," here's camping in the snow. It's nice and warm in fact.

And if you're willing to snow camp, you get to see the Sierra like this! We love it.
