In-Reach weather forecasts

I have searched the internet and not found any detailed data on what the In-Reach data source is for its "basic" weather forecast. I checked this forecast every day this summer and found that precipitation forecast of 10% or greater meant rain at my location. I am thinking that their area covered by the forecast is too large and the high mountain locations are the location of their "10%" predictions. Does anyone know exactly how they come up with their forecast? They have my exact location so it should be more accurate.

Says here they use Dark Sky. Personally, I use this: https://wx2inreach.weebly.com/
I have it set as one of my three free quick messages so it doesn't cost me for sending it, though it does cost me one message to receive the forecast.

I've used the method robow8 recommends and find it more accurate than the Garmin/Darksky forecast. It uses the NWS forecast. It only works if you send from the Garmin device itself though.

I also use the wx2inreach weather forecasts on my inReach. On my August trip this year, the first two days that I sent a message, I never received any response. I was beginning to think that this service had been discontinued. But then, I got a response on the third and subsequent days.

I also use the wx2inreach, I have it set as my 3rd free message. I used it a couple times in June and then a couple times in July/August and got a response every time.

What is "wx2inreach," and how do you use it? I clicked the link but it says website not found (I guess there's a chance it's blocked on my work wifi).

I'd love to get an automatic response from the NWS since my friends are all idiots and they think it's funny to just make up forecasts when we message each other for updates.

Here's the link that explains how wx2inreach works:

I just looked at it from home.

I'm glad to know about this. The last weather report we got was 1% chance of rain, while it was pouring down like buckets.

Very cool to know. The standard reports on InReach have always struck me as useless. This looks like it is well worth trying. Thanks for sharing.
