Ran across this wall chart.

Made for firefighters, but could be useful for backpackers out for several days. Nice to get a heads up for possible weather changes coming.

Thanks! I remember in 5th grade, back in the days when teachers did not have strict rules about what to teach when, we studied clouds, and were so enthusiastic about it, that it went on for weeks, and we made paper clouds for the ceiling of our classroom and learned more and more. Well, obviously we missed other science subject matter. But this is one lesson I never forgot. I love to "read" the clouds.

https://www.fs.fed.us/psw/cirmount/wkgr ... 031607.pdf elaborates a bit more on weather systems and backcountry forecasting.

https://www.dropbox.com/s/dvaswkn4ymtir ... r.pdf?dl=0 this goes into more detail on mountain weather in general (and has a tiny section on the sierra)
