High Sierra Topix

I’ve searched the internet and these forums and surprised I can’t find the same bags that the dehydrated food manufacturers use. I would think this would be a boon for homemade meals. Does anyone have a good source for these bags? Only one I found was a guy on YouTube but he’s using Mylar and that is not safe for food. Thank you.

I've used these bags and they work fine. I currently use ziploc bags, but may start just cooking in my pot.

Thanks. I’ll check them out. Funny though that the metallic or foil lined pouch’s can’t be found. Maybe MountainHouse bought them all up and licensing them. Lol- Smart.

Keep in mind, this laminate is chosen because of it’s performance as an oxygen barrier. The aluminum is a way better O2 barrier than most plastic. That’s why almost all food in a vending machine uses metal film in the packaging, keeps it from going stale. It’s probably overkill if you’re not storing food a long time.

Ziploc (LDPE) has a melting temp of 105C, and they claim they don’t use plasticizers that could leech out in boiling water. They should be fine.
