I like to meditate and express my inner self by knocking over stacks of rocks. It calms me. Who are rock stackers to tell me that is wrong? If they don't like it, they should stack them on their own property.
As far as cairns, or I guess "ducks", I have knocked some over, ones that led me the wrong way. Some route finders have more faith in their ability than actual ability. When I knock over their route markers, I figure I'm doing the next guy who comes that way a favor.

Gotta' say I would probably create quite a scene leveling all of that.

Lumbergh21 - unfortunately, if you just knocked over all those stacked rocks at Mirror Lake, and didn't physically remove them, I bet they would all get stacked up again pretty quickly.

Sasquatch worked hard all night stacking those rocks. If you knock them over, he's got a LOT more work to do. :D

I don't care for any disturbance of the natural environment. I have come to tolerate some of these displays, particularly in Europe on well traveled trails where they are common. I accept that it is part of their culture. But it may lead to insensitivity in places where I think everyone would agree it is inappropriate. I remember that some group had moved rather large stones to form a circle on the south plain of Mather pass. This is in a rather delicate area. I spent over an hour moving what I could to make it look more natural. It really was/is a travesty.

There are now similar exhibits at Happy Isles and Lower Yosemite Falls...
