White Wolf-GCT Loop

Post by gardel »

A friend and I are doing a loop from White Wolf, through the Grand Canyon of the Tuolumne, through Ten Lakes Basin, and back to White Wolf, August 29 - September 2. We're Level 2 backpackers. Any recommendations/suggestions? I'm especially interested in suggestions for campsites along the GCT and any recommended side trips. Thanks in advance.

There are numerous sites in Pate Valley, a bit past the Register Creek crossing, you climb some switchbacks until you get to a fabulous view of Muir Gorge, you descend a bit and meet back up with the river, there were some nice spots not far from the trail there, also above Waterwheel Falls there is some good camping on the western side of the trail. There are site all over, so if you like the views and the location, find a legal campsite, and call it home for the evening. :)

PS Use the "search" feature, there are numerous TR's with pictures to the GCT and Ten Lakes area.

I don't give out specific route information, my belief is that it takes away from the whole adventure spirit of a trip, if you need every inch planned out, you'll have to get that from someone else.
