YOSEMITE NATIONAL PARK, Calif. (AP) — Yosemite National Park officials are asking for the public's help in locating a missing man.

KFSN-TV in Fresno reports (http://abc30.tv/1JJopSd ) Tuesday that 39-year-old James Michael Millet Jr. planned a day hike to Upper Yosemite Fall on Aug. 11, and has not returned to his vehicle.

He is described as white, 5 feet 9 inches tall and 170 pounds. He has brown hair and brown eyes.

Authorities did not say if he was hiking alone when he went missing.

Anyone who was in the area of North Dome or Upper Yosemite Fall between Aug. 11 and Aug. 15, or who has information on Millet's whereabouts is asked to contact the Yosemite National Park Emergency Communications Center.

Learned about this about an hour ago from someone who works for YOSAR, they just learned about this themselves. He was supposed to go on a day hike to Yosemite Falls from Tioga Road, he left a note in his car. Why had no one called the authorities about him missing, 3 weeks is a long time.

Pretty sad when the story doesn't even show up on the Yose park alerts.

Question still stands, why did no one call the authorities when this man went missing? He had to have some family, or friends, that should have become suspicious after not hearing from him, and what about his job? Rangers became suspicious after seeking his car parked on Tioga Road for an extended length of time.

3 weeks.. maybe no permit, but the dust after a week on the car would have given it away.

So.. Why we don't get are the details of the accident. we don't even get that from SAR. They just talk about the rescue. That seizure on Whitney.. What happened after?

All searches are a criminal investigation until they are proved not to be. SOP for law enforcement.
