Snow Crown - 2nd attempt

PHOTOS: http://snownymph.smugmug.com/gallery/2204815

After yesterday's trifecta, I wasn't sure how far up the trail I could go. My right knee and top of foot were pretty sore. We took a break at Heart Lake, and I heard Rachel say something about saving her knees after yesterday. I quickly said I would go back with her. Tomcat chose to be with the better looking pair and went back with us. We'll just have to do Snow Crown another time . . . this was my 2nd attempt. :(

You are getting on my nerves. I get two or three good trips a year and it seems like ALL you ever do is go tromping around in the mountains every day. You absolutely need to quit flaunting your adventures in my face...I am going to die of jealousy soon.

By the way, what do you do for a living? I want to switch jobs so I can be a professional Sierra Nevada Wanderer like you.

:D I just choose to be in the Sierra as much as I can. When SnowDude met me I was going every weekend. When he asked me to marry him 6 years later, I made sure "nothing would change". He was actually relieved that he didn't have to go "every weekend". And almost 4 years later, nothing has changed. :friends :smooch: I can't stay away from the Sierra.

I'm a secretary for a large company, and I've been there 27 years. So my job is easy for me. I don't get a lot of sleep driving up Friday and back late Sunday. Mondays are tough! But its all worth it!

For me its good therapy and keeps me stress free and happy.

:D

Wow, things are as dry near Onion Valley as they are up here! Thanks for the pictures. I had fun checking them out.

I just checked out the California radar. It looks like our first big storm of the season is almost here! :) Time to ski.

Snow Crown - 3rd attempt (for me)

PHOTOS: http://snownymph.smugmug.com/gallery/2228519

After turning back last week at Heart Lake, we decided to try again with an earlier start. There was a lot of snow and ice in the boulder field so we turned back after 30 minutes. :(

Looks like Tom was taking a snort from the still, that explains the belly slide on the ice, ha ha.

Finally got some pictures sorted and uploaded. Had fun on both trips - as always any day in the mountains is a good day. In hind sight I should have opted for summit via Bench Lake route - did not take into account the extra snow from the previous week. I thnk we would have had a more enjoable hike with a better chance for summit. Oh well - there are always plenty more days to go - if not this year, then next year. So many mountains - so little time.
