From the Monarch Divide, smoke slightly obscured the afternoon views north towards the Black Divide and Palisades, although part of that may also be due to the monsoonal moisture. The air quality on the Monarch Divide was fairly good.

Up to 13,717 from 12,827, an additional 890 acres, but the containment jumped from
20% to 40%, finally some some good news.

Trinity Alps

Planned on Mineral King 7/30-8-4 but we bailed on that with the smoke reports. Ended up in the Trinity Alps (Canyon Creek Trailhead) from 8/1-8/4. Smoke free until 8/3 when some far-away, early signs started to appear. Some faint smoke smells that afternoon and in the morning there was a serious haze over the area hiking out and driving back south. Saw the reports once home that there were several fires that broke out in the Trinity area which accounts for the smoke we encountered.
Yikes.

Hi Lilagrey,
Welcome to HST! Thank you for chiming in with that helpful info. For future reference
any info pertaining to areas outside of the Sierra Nevada needs to be in the "Beyond The
Sierra Nevada" section at the bottom of the main page. Thanks
