Island Bird Lake is quite pretty, tentatively hope to check out some of those lakes
west and across from the Devils Crags this year, the Tehipite Fire a few years back
really messed with my photography on that trip to this area. Used the same unnamed
pass to get to Dumbbell Basin, saw bear and mountain lion prints all over, especially
near the small lake halfway down to Dumbbell Basin.

Yeah that whole area has tons of bear activity although I have only ever seen one West of Lake 10,565.

Of all the beautiful lakes in the Sierra it might be the least visited.

These are really cool pics of a super remote lake that isn´t all rock and water. To me those lakes ultra high
arn´t pretty. South guard is just one of hundreds of these kinds of lakes. The lake to the edge of forever is to me a beautiful lake.

Just stumbled upon this thread. I had the chance to camp there in maybe 2008 (?) and take some morning shots. I promise I'm not trying to sell anything, but I thought I'd share the shots:

I had been on a longer trip, but was behind schedule and had to turn back at that point. I thought there might be a good angle from the lake, so I made my way down there and camped for the night on the south end of the lake. Wonderful hidden gem, it made the trip worth it.

I have always looked at North Guard Lake on the map.... and never been able to visit. I suspect this is not seen often... ditto for the Cross Lake just west.
