Hiking along Kibbie Ridge from Cherry Lake to Huckleberry Lake (Emigrant Wilderness and Yosemite NP) June 8th to 12th, 2022:

Most of the hike was a 2 to 3, granite sections closer to 2 and foresty sections 3.
Swampy bits (e.g. around Huckleberry Lake) getting closer to 4.

Notably, even during heavier mosquito times, bugs were not super aggressive. The gnats were a bit annoying too during some stretches of the hike,

My daughter took her 5 year old daughter (my granddaughter) on her first backpack trip to Island Lake in the Grouse Lakes Roadless Area of the Tahoe National Forest, starting from Carr Lake trailhead, at elevation 6800 feet.

Tues 6/21 and Weds 6/22 were windy, so mosquitoes were a 1.
Thurs 6/23 started out calm, and mosquitoes increased to a 2.

Wrights Lake to Lake Lois in the Desolation Wilderness, June 25-26:

Wrights Lake: 2
Maud Lake: 2
Rockbound Pass: 1
Doris Lakes: 2
Lake Lois: 3 except when the wind picked up

Mostly a 1-2 on the trail while moving, occasionally up to a 3 in the swampier areas. Lots of snow still melting near Doris/Lois, so this area will get worse before it gets better.

1: Saw maybe a half dozen mosquitoes over the weekend, but they were all big, slow and nonaggresive.

Copper Creek TH -> Granite Pass -> Simpson Meadow -> JMT Southbound -> Woods Creek -> Road's End TH

The mosquito dynamics are very hard to predict this season. I'd put most of my route at a 2, with higher elevation areas between 9.5k ft and 11k ft closer to a 3.

Cliff Lake Trailhead to Nelson Lakes = 2, 3 in the wet/green areas.
Nelson Lake area = easy 3 if not 4. Bugs would swarm you nearly all day when wind was not blowing.
Treated clothing made a huge difference.
