Mosquitoes were generally not noticeable while hiking, but there were some at campsites in the evening. I would generally rate my camps as level 2, except level 1 when the wind was blowing, which fortunately was most of the time! Only really annoying mosquitoes were in the evening while camping at 10,000 feet along the Rush Creek tributary that comes down from Donohue Pass. With 5 or more buzzing my face at one time, I put on my head net and that solved the problem.

Rae Lakes loop: We day hiked/ran the loop on Saturday, mosquitoes were non-existent except for at dusk when we were around Mist Falls. Then they were about a 3/5. It's really nice up there right now.

Just spent 9 days in the Humphreys Basin/ French Canyon area. Mosquitoes were pretty bad. If the wind was blowing they were tolerable, but as soon as it stopped it was a 2-3.

8:31-9:1 Mesa Lake 2-3
9:2-4 Paris Lake 2-3 (Fishing at Star was a 4-5)

All areas were a 0 to 1. Maybe a 2 in very wet areas at evening only. No Deet or head net used.

The Sierras are transitioning to Autumn for certain. Got some snow and VERY windy conditions last week. Mosquitoes were, understandably, all but non-existent. Used some DEET 40% on two days, and didn't get a single bite.
Dusy - 0
Little Pete Meadow - 1
Evolution Lake - 0
Franklin Meadow (near there) - 0
Hutchinson Meadow - 1

On a side note, I was just amazed at the traffic on the JMT. One day we encountered I'd guess close to 100 people. Really is the Trans-Sierra Highway. Lots of North-to-South PCT traffic.
A little snow goes a long in keeping skeeters in check. This was mid-week during our trip...
