7/30 - 8/3

Lost Lake, Roaring River, Tamarack Lake/Elizabeth Pass Jct, and Alta Meadow - 1

The only camp that might have been 1+ was Big Bird Lake at dusk.

Never used the headnet or deet I brought.
In wilderness lies the hope of the world.

Twin Lakes-Kerrick Meadows Lollipop, 8/20-8/22

All 1's (almost no mosquitoes present, none landing). Twin Lakes to Barney Lake to Peeler Lake; Kerrick Meadows to Rock Island Pass to Snow Lake to Crown Lake; Robinson Lakes to Barney Lake to Twin Lakes.

Warm and very sunny during the day, clear and in the 40's at night, south winds to 15 mph in the afternoons and eves. High meadows were still wet with ponds (including yellow-legged frog, tree frog, and yosemite toad - yeay herps!).

2015 Mosquito Reports - 8/28 8/29 Crabtree & Gem Lake

Post by ppro »

Crabtree Trailhead: 0
Camp Lake: 0
Lilly Pad Lake: 0
Gem Lake: 0

We planned a full circuit from Crabtree to Gem, Gem to Long Lake, to ToeJam, to Chewing Gum and back to Crabtree. Unfortunately I got a nasty head cold on the drive up. We hiked from Crabtree to Gem and did not experience a single mosquito anywhere on the trail. Spend the night at Gem and woke up the next morning with the same terrible head cold. We cut the trip short and hiked back to Crabtree.
