What kind of campfire is this?

Grab your bear can or camp chair, kick your feet up and chew the fat about anything Sierra Nevada related that doesn't quite fit in any of the other forums. Within reason, (and the HST rules and guidelines) this is also an anything goes forum. Tell stories, discuss wilderness issues, music, or whatever else the High Sierra stirs up in your mind.

I come in here looking for a good political argument and all I see are Sierra Nevada related subjects...most of them could fit in other forums specifically. What gives? :)

Because we can go to any of the other sites and get all the political BS we can stomach. Even threads that start out as outdoor related soon degenerate into a political mudfest.

So far the moderators have kept that from happening here. I believe the regulars want to keep it that way.

Then why have a description that reads:

Grab a stump, kick your boots up and shoot the breeze about anything that doesn't quite fit in any of the other forums. Within reason, (and the HST rules and guidelines) this is an anything goes forum. Tell stories; discuss politics, books, music, or whatever floats your boat.

...and most of the topics in here are Sierra Nevada related and would fit nicely in other specific forums.

"Regulars"? Is that kind of like a "local" in the little mountain towns?

Yes.

Geologically it's the Cascades, so I guess I am a 'foreigner' here.
