Mono Pass, Mono Pass Peak & Summit Lake 7/17/15

Post by HikingGeek.com »

I had originally planned for an overnight trip to Mt. Langley, but after several cancellations, I decided that I would just take on several day hikes solo. Looking at a list of possible hikes in the area, I decided on Mono Pass, with the possibility of a little class 2 to Mono Pass Peak.

Here are some highlights. Clicking on any of the photos will bring you to my full trip report and gallery (~50 photos).

Possibly my favorite view in the Sierra. Red & White Mtn, Red Slate Mtn in the distance I believe:

Great shot from the summit!

I don't give out specific route information, my belief is that it takes away from the whole adventure spirit of a trip, if you need every inch planned out, you'll have to get that from someone else.

I am about to start at mono pass and hike to bishop. How is the entrance? We are parking one car near mosquito flats and the other at south lake. Is it hard to find a spot close to mosquito flats?

Your "favorite view" photo is fantastic, it almost looks like a painting. Great work!

Thanks everyone!

Finding parking at Mosquito Flats can be tough unless you show up early. If you get there after 10 or so, in my experience, you'll probably have to park in overflow parking unless you catch someone leaving. I've been there 3 times and only parked closeby once.

I've only been to South Lake once. On a Saturday, the lot was filling up quickly by 8:30 AM.
