Glacier Point Ski Hut

Anyone ever stayed there? Anyone interested in doing a trip there? I am, but you need a group of 6 people to reserve a spot there.

Stayed here once, last decade....(Where did the time go?).
As I understand how things work there, keep looking at the web-site for last minute cancellations, which happen all the time. In the beginning they want larger groups to reserve, but as time rolls around, they will take anybody...probably how I got in...lowered standards.

I remember getting a 2-person opening about 2 weeks before - sometime in early April...a memorable ski in and a great 4-day adventure.

Good luck!

Same here. Skied in a few years back on short notice and it worked out great. We actually just risked there being a vacancy and planned on snow camping if not. Turned out there were spots and we just paid at the hut. Not sure I'd risk it again because I'd me mighty grumpy sleeping outside knowing there was a nice warm hut a few hundred yards away!

I've stayed there a couple of times. Great trips! On Wed and the weekend day they book, you go with a misc group of strangers...they put up 18-20 folks. You can arrange your own trip if you have a minimum of 5. My honey and I just went with the strangers and it was great. Like minded folks. You get lunch on the way out, dinner and breakfast. When you get there the snack shack is divided so early to bed folks can go to bed and late to bed folks can sit around the fire or drag a chair out under the stars and look at the mountain range in front of you. All you can drink of various beverages. A guide leads and one follows the stragglers each way and often ski up next to you and give you pointers.

Well I just went to the website and it looks like they changed their trips. What I described seems to be gone unless you pay an arm and a leg. But...it would be easy to get 6 folks here for an overnighter maybe ...:)
