Grab your bear can or camp chair, kick your feet up and chew the fat about anything Sierra Nevada related that doesn't quite fit in any of the other forums. Within reason, (and the HST rules and guidelines) this is also an anything goes forum. Tell stories, discuss wilderness issues, music, or whatever else the High Sierra stirs up in your mind.

Owens Valley / Mammoth Weather Forecast
Provided by Dennis Mattinson
Forecast Specialist for the Sierra Wave

Another sunny day is in store for us as a high pressure ridge and its associated dry airmass dominates our area. However, that ridge will weaken today and completely collapse on Wednesday as a very cold arctic low pressure system sweeps down into our area.

Today for Bishop & the Owens Valley: A beautiful sunny day with highs in the mid 60s and lows in the mid 20s. Winds will be light and variable.

Today for Mammoth: Sunny, blue skies with southwest wind 10 -15 gusting to 30 mph in the afternoon. High temperatures will be in the low 50s and nighttime temps in the mid teens.

Tomorrow for Bishop & the Owens Valley: Sunny during the day, turning mostly cloudy in the evening. High temps in the upper 50s and lows in the lower 20s.

Tomorrow for Mammoth: Partly to mostly cloudy and windy. Southwest wind 20 -30 gusting to 40 mph in the afternoon. High temps in the upper 40s and lows in the lower teens.

A cold upper low will move through the Great Basin and down into our area Thursday and Friday, bringing with it very low temperatures and a chance of snow in the High Country and flurries to the valley floor. The cold temps should last through the first part of next week.
