Time to start reserving our permits

Grab your bear can or camp chair, kick your feet up and chew the fat about anything Sierra Nevada related that doesn't quite fit in any of the other forums. Within reason, (and the HST rules and guidelines) this is also an anything goes forum. Tell stories, discuss wilderness issues, music, or whatever else the High Sierra stirs up in your mind.

Time to start reserving our permits

Post by wingding »

It looks like it's time once again to start order permits for next summer's backpacking trips in the Sierra. Trips for July now - not sure what I'll do in July yet.

I'm going to make sure I mark my calendar to order the permit for North Fork Lone Pine Creek at the beginning of February for next August - that's a tough trail to get an overnight permit for. Last year I didn't order one in time and ended up witha permit for October - the snow came and put an end to that trip.

I plan on going with Carol who is working on a trip down in SEKI in late July, she asked my opinion of her offered options and I of course went for the longer trip. We will have to see if she gets married anytime soon, but I'm sure she won't let that get in the way of a good trip. As for a later trip in Oct., lots of time. I usually try 2-3 months out, can't remember how long in advance you can make some reservations. At least with my present job I can make plans and stick to them.
Piece of cake.
