Grab your bear can or camp chair, kick your feet up and chew the fat about anything Sierra Nevada related that doesn't quite fit in any of the other forums. Within reason, (and the HST rules and guidelines) this is also an anything goes forum. Tell stories, discuss wilderness issues, music, or whatever else the High Sierra stirs up in your mind.

Owens Valley / Mammoth Weather Forecast
Provided by Dennis Mattinson

Low pressure system is slowly making its way toward our area. I still expect a good shot of snow for the High Country later today and a chance of rain in the Owens Valley.

Today for Bishop & the Owens Valley: Partly cloudy with a chance of rain. Locally gusty conditions in the afternoon to 35 mph. High temperatures in the mid 50s and lows in the upper 20s. 50% chance of rain today and possible snow showers this evening.

Today for Mammoth: Mostly cloudy with rain and snow. Snow level lowering to the valley floor this afternoon/evening. Gusty conditions in town to 40 mph and +100 over the Crest. High temps in the mid 30s and lows in the upper single digits.

Tomorrow for Bishop & the Owens Valley: Mostly sunny and breezy. Highs in the low 40s and lows in the upper teens. North wind gusting to 40 mph.

Tomorrow for Mammoth: Mostly cloudy, cold and windy. Highs in the upper 20s and lows near zero. Northwest wind 15 - 20 with gusts +60 mph over the Crest.

High pressure builds in on Friday giving our area dry conditions through at least the weekend.

Thank you Dennis for your reports! I look forward to reading them each day..even though im a bit more North. We had rain all last night at 6300 feet...but the last two hours it has been snowing..it's a nice fluffy snow..not real wet and heavy...29 degrees right now
Thank you again :)
