Anza-Borrego - Sombrero and Whale Peaks

Post by wingding »

Roy, Ben, Tony and I hiked from Indian Canyon Road to the summit of Sombrero Peak on Saturday and then Tony and I camped in Blair Valley and did the hike to Whale Peak via the Pictograph Trail/Smuggler's Canyon. It was a great couple of days with really nice company - a great way to end the year.

Here are pictures from the hikes:

Sombrero Peak (January 30, 2006):

Whale Peak (January 31, 2006):

The view of Granite Peak from Whale Peak was great, so if anyone is interested in doing the hike to Granite Peak let me know - I'd like to get it done sometime this winter.

Beautiful pictures Kathy! Really different area it looks like..Smugglers Canyon looks pretty cool.
Looks so dry and warm there :) ..you are so lucky you live pretty close to these desert areas, especially in the winter for hiking..I wish I lived closer to them.
Thank you for posting!
