+1 on the Clark Lakes area not being impressive. The better day hikes and more spectacular areas are generally west of the JMT. Clark Lakes is not really closer to Agnew than Ruby, Garnet, or Badger and the camping is definitely better at those 3.

That's great to know beforehand. I'll have to change the route up. Worst case we can do Nydiver > Thousand Island > Garnet/Ruby/Badger and just day hikes with any remaining daylight. Alternatively, if we are feeling good, maybe we hit Thousand Island the first day, head farther north then double back the last night to Garnet before exiting at Agnew. Lots to think about!

Thanks again everyone for the advice and I'll follow-up with a trip report when we get back.

Amusing to this person on negatives noted about the Clark/Summit lakes area. There are spectacular andesite volcanic features above the lakes on the east wall worth exploring by climbing up towards the top of the plateau above. And views from the rim in the morning with the lakes below and whole Ritter Range in the background is utterly spectacular. But if all one usually does after arriving at destinations is being a campbody then yeah it probably won't be interesting.
