Thanks for all the info.

Looks like we will be heading out there this weekend. Plan to do Garnet lake and back all by river trail (day hike). Will definitely post pictures and a TR.
Once we get a bit of experience in backpacking, we plan to backpack to Ediza lake and Iceberg lake.

How much is the distance from Ediza to Iceberg? Just for curiosity.
Is it doable in one day? Agnew Meadows - Ediza - Iceberg - Back to Agnew meadows

Also,
since we plan to start around 5am from Agnew Meadows trailhead, and we will be staying in Mammoth lakes village, can we drive to the trailhead in our own car? Or we have to take the bus starting at 6am?
What is best recommended way to get to Agnew Meadows from Mammoth Lakes town around 5am?

Thanks in advance.

It's about one mile from Ediza to Iceberg. An average hiker could hike from Agnew Meadows to Iceberg and back with daylight to spare. Of course everything depends on fitness level and experience. YMMV.

If you enter BEFORE 7AM then you can drive your car to the trailhead. The "toll booth" is open from 7AM to 7PM. Between those two times the only normal access is via the bus.

Take Main Street (hwy 203) and make a right on Minaret Road (also hwy 203). Keep going past the Mammoth Mountain ski area towards Minaret Vista. As you approach the Minaret Vista road you will see the toll booth. Proceed straight ahead and follow the signs to Agnew Meadows.
