I'm here!
Campers:
More than a few of you have written wondering if I've been abducted by aliens. I'm happy to report I have no memory of that being the case. It's kind of a dog-ate-the-homework excuse, but I've been in a long and depressing struggle with federal worker's comp and have not worked backcountry in a year. Sigh.... . I need a new hip. No excuse for not checking in occasionally, but there you have it... .
But, kind of a new thing: I'll be working as a ranger at Channel Islands NP (Ventura, CA) at Santa Rosa Island. Very new and different and looks like a cool place. I'll send updates and will try to weigh in here more often.
Everyone have a safe and terrific hiking season! I was there in the '76 & '77 drought years and the high country is still every bit as outstanding!

Dear George:
I'm really happy to hear you are still with us. You have brought new perspective to many issues discussed here--always a most valuable contributor whose presence has been missed.
Thank you,

Uh oh you mean Miles will be back at Leconte? Lol maybe I will get a ticket this year for coming through with a permit I picked up at the Devil's Post Pile.

Great to have you back George!

I don't give out specific route information, my belief is that it takes away from the whole adventure spirit of a trip, if you need every inch planned out, you'll have to get that from someone else.
