Conditions report - Tyee Lakes to Unnamed 13020, 5/17/14

Post by Teresa Gergen »

Trail to first of the Tyee Lakes is mostly dry, with any snow well tracked. Trail is in and out of snow from first to fourth lake; lost it numerous times. Some sections are postholed where people found the trail. Much postholing going on later in the day. First, second, and third lakes are melted out. Fourth and fifth are frozen. Plenty of running water around. Creek crossings are not a problem. Didn't appear to be a lot of bare ground around above the first lake for camping. I camped high on a ridge below my peak, well above the lakes, where there's also a lot of snow. No mosquitos yet anywhere.
