The campfire's lit....

Grab your bear can or camp chair, kick your feet up and chew the fat about anything Sierra Nevada related that doesn't quite fit in any of the other forums. Within reason, (and the HST rules and guidelines) this is also an anything goes forum. Tell stories, discuss wilderness issues, music, or whatever else the High Sierra stirs up in your mind.

It is great to the old gang coming back together! :) :)

I had dinner with Snow Nymph and Cal Hiker Saturday at the Whoa Nellie, and they told me Topix was back.

I am looking forward to catching up on what is going on our little world.

I agree - it's really enjoyable catching up with everyone!!

Mark - I'm going to take you up on your fishing-lesson offer, but it may not be until I'm heading south for my hike this summer. I visit my family in southern California a couple times a year (I was born/raised in San Diego area), but I mostly fly. And I'd love to have company for a JMT segment! I've got a tentative schedule, and as soon as I've confirmed with permits, I'll send you a copy and see if the time schedule works for you.

Hi Skibum! I was certified in Olympia (Capital Divers) not even a month ago. I did my open-water dives in the Steilacoom area, and two weeks ago I did a couple boat dives in the Point Defiance area - saw some wolf-eels, some huge cod, and lots of the starfish, shrimp, and crabs kinda thing, but I'm REALLY looking forward to seeing my first octopus!! I've heard there's some really great diving up in the Vacouver area - lucky you!!

Mike, sorry to hear that the knees are still giving you such problems, but I'm glad that your so into the photography - you've posted some GREAT pictures... hope to see more.

Congrats Rosie. I certified 23 years ago. I saw a large pacific octopus diving off the east side of Orcas Island in the San Juans. Very cool. Diving is very addictive. Everything took a back seat to diving. Especially when I was living/travelling in the south pacific. Have fun!

P.S. Get a drysuit :D

Yup! I've ordered a "High Tide" Drysuit. Can't wait for it to come in!! I've got all the rest of my gear, other than tanks (I'll just rent those for a while).
