Rime Time On Pilot Butte, Bend Oregon

Post by oldranger »

Central Oregon has been plagued with freezing fog the past week. Yesterday afternoon I walked up Pilot Butte in the fog and the rime on the trees was incredible. Unfortunately it was one of the few times that I did not have a camera with me. Because of the fog all of the pics would have been naturally gray to white tones. This morning was more of the same early but the fog rapidly retreated to the north. So the mood of the pics I was able to take were quite different than the previous day. I hope my significantly less than professional pics still portray much of the beauty of this radiant morning.Click on pics to get higher resolution view.

Wild! I have seen something similar traveling through south Texas. A world of crystal.

Nice shots Mike, especially the last one. These kind of subjects tend to look good as
infrared shots too Mike. Example sent via pm.

I don't give out specific route information, my belief is that it takes away from the whole adventure spirit of a trip, if you need every inch planned out, you'll have to get that from someone else.

Russ,

Yes it was cold but I felt I was an hour late as some of the crystalline structure was already melting. Most of the pics I took were still in the shade.

Mav thanks for the example.
