FORECAST 11.01.06

Grab your bear can or camp chair, kick your feet up and chew the fat about anything Sierra Nevada related that doesn't quite fit in any of the other forums. Within reason, (and the HST rules and guidelines) this is also an anything goes forum. Tell stories, discuss wilderness issues, music, or whatever else the High Sierra stirs up in your mind.

All:

Discussion: Varying amounts of mid and high level clouds taking aim at the northern part of the forecast area. Weak ridge will be in place through Friday with a few shortwaves passing through our area. I don't see much in the way of precipt, particularly in the Owens Valley. Winds over the Crest are apt to be gusty for the next few days, 30-40 mph.

Today: The Owens Valley and adjacent High Country will see mostly cloudy to cloudy skies. Daytime temps for the Owens Valley will be in the upper 60s and evening temps in the mid 30s. The High Country will see afternoon temps in the mid 50s and lows in the mid 20s.

Tomorrow: The High Country will have mostly cloudy skies with afternoon temps in the mid 50s and evening temps in the low 20s with gusty winds 30-40 mph over the Crest. The Owens Valley will continue with mostly cloudy skies and afternoon temps in the mid 50s, with lows in the mid 30s.

Outlook: Weak ridge to flatten a bit on Friday evening into Saturday as an upper level trough passes to our north. Slight chance of rain and snow in the High Country and a chance of rain in the valley on Saturday into Sunday.
