A facebook post I recvd today...

Grab your bear can or camp chair, kick your feet up and chew the fat about anything Sierra Nevada related that doesn't quite fit in any of the other forums. Within reason, (and the HST rules and guidelines) this is also an anything goes forum. Tell stories, discuss wilderness issues, music, or whatever else the High Sierra stirs up in your mind.

Wow the game wardens i know would lead me to the best hunting and fishing places. My wife on the other hand would direct me o--u-t. But she instead she keeps me focused on getting just what we were looking for and not the extra goodies I might be tempted by.

A friend of mine was a game warden. Great guy but it does take a "type" He really doesn't know where the big bucks are but where a deer is likely to get poached, or where people often take an over limit of trout.
I'm no suture for my future.

Back in my ski bum days at Mammoth I fished next to 2 CDFW guys at crowley when opening weekend turned out to be a bust because the lake was still mostly frozen and they didn't permit boat launches. They were fishing before heading home on Monday. They were fishing the same way I was--heaving cast masters from shore. They did suggest replacing the hooks with better ones but didn't mention single hooks. We were all taking home limits and eating them ( the fish not the officers, don't know if there was a limit on the officers but I don't think my tackle was sufficient to bring one in if I hooked one).
