I would expect at least that much. For a 5th grader a 2000 ft moderate ascent (provided no ice and wind) should be a warm up. ;)

I don't recall if I ever hiked up Lassen Peak. I have hiked down more times than I can count, but never up.

Back when I was a rotorhead for the FS we made several trips per year to the peak for various reasons. I was often the guy that came down on foot.
