Wish it was, but radio and TV have also reported it growing to over 3x the size today.

I don't give out specific route information, my belief is that it takes away from the whole adventure spirit of a trip, if you need every inch planned out, you'll have to get that from someone else.

Yeah..I've been doing some research and everything I've read has talked about how impressive the burn was yesterday. The evening news yesterday talked about the pyrocumulus cloud showing up on radar

Reno is socked in this afternoon from the Rim fire. Carson City is also socked in with reports of particulate ash falling. Eyes are burning. :crybaby:

Fire has grown to 63,366 acres and is still only 1% contained. Governer has declared
a state of emergency.

Does anyone know how far south the smoke is drifting? Was planning trip out of north lake to Lamarck lakes after Labor Day. Thinking it might be too smokey. Thoughts?

This view of the plume makes it look like it's all headed north (which would explain reports of terrible smoke in Reno). Winds could always shift, so it's worth monitoring, but at this point it doesn't look like there's much impact further south.
