Buckeye Hot Springs

Grab your bear can or camp chair, kick your feet up and chew the fat about anything Sierra Nevada related that doesn't quite fit in any of the other forums. Within reason, (and the HST rules and guidelines) this is also an anything goes forum. Tell stories, discuss wilderness issues, music, or whatever else the High Sierra stirs up in your mind.

Not recent, but I went there about 8 years ago and the springs were luke-warm. Probably because it was early season and cold runoff entered the springs.

I don't give out specific route information, my belief is that it takes away from the whole adventure spirit of a trip, if you need every inch planned out, you'll have to get that from someone else.

I was there in the summer of 2004 and I found that there were in fact truly hot/warm spots. One could find the desired temperature comfort zone depending on which pool and where in a pool one sat. I very much enjoyed the springs and rank them as one of my favorite east side hot springs.
Since my fishing (etc.) website is still down, you can be distracted by geology stuff at: http://www.fresnostate.edu/csm/ees/facu ... ayshi.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Buckeye is a nice spring, you can control the temp by allowing water from the creek into the pool if it gets too hot. Most of the Hot Springs in the Eastern Sierra are all well known and crowds can be a problem, but that depends on the time of year you go. Summer: really crowded, late fall or early spring: as long as it isn't snowed in too much, you can often have it to yourself.
