Primus vs. Jetboil PCS

Post by SoxGolf00 »

I just came across the Primus PCS and it looks like the Jetboil but half the price. Has anyone used the Primus? What are the main differences and what would you recommend?

Take a stove you're comfortable with. That's all that matters.. test it before you leave.

They are so similar it wouldn't be surprising if they come from the same factory.

The Primus looks to be more efficient plus you can use it as a regular stove

Did you get the Primus PCS? I am curious as to what you think of it.

Primus actually made the Jetboil, back before it became its own brand. I wouldn't be surprised a bit if it performed the same or better. I have seen for myself a Primus stove that beat Jetboil to the boil...

Yeah, some of the parts on the original Jetboils were stamped "Primus". However, when Primus first introduced their Jetboil equivalent, it got really bad reviews, not for technical issues but for the "human factors" (i.e. ergonomics) issues. It was hard to work with and kludgey as I recall. Looks much nicer now.

I just picked up a brand new Jetboil Zip for $63 delivered off Ebay. Needs to light with a match, or lighter. Best price I've seen on them so far.

$63!! That's an outstanding value. Where can these be coming from? MSRP is $80. Cheaper places, they run around $75.
