i'm old school - so when you make 672 images at 40 seconds each to reach 7.5 hours, does the digital camera just overlay them all (some sort of menu function?)...

Interesting use of color saturation in photoshop. Amazing pictures nonetheless though. It takes more work than people think taking star trail pics. Finding a location without light pollution, editing out plane trails, staying up all night, and then processing the stacks. Thanks for posting the links. I love this stuff.

It takes more work than people think taking star trail pics.

seems like it was easier in the old days of film



compose, click, go to sleep, wake up, click, put camera away

but then, with digital, you can put a taper on the star exposure for each frame and it ends up looking like hundreds of comets - creative possibilities are endless.
