Thank you for positing these wonderful photos!
I'm still rather convinced that you can achieve more than you've ever dreamed of if you just lower your standards.

Marvelous photo's QITNL! A great conditions update for the area. :thumbsup:

I don't give out specific route information, my belief is that it takes away from the whole adventure spirit of a trip, if you need every inch planned out, you'll have to get that from someone else.

Nice photos! I like that the Banner shot has Mono Lake in the background. Which route did you take up Ritter?

Thanks for the great photos. Did you post-hole much in the snow?

Thanks. Uh, yeah, my route was sort of interesting. Originally I was just going to hike up to Ritter Pass but got bored with that. Got home & checked my Secor, I think I did the East Face, Clyde Variation, Owens Chute. Not the shortest route, but scenic.

The snow up there is in great shape, very little postholing, nicely set Sierra Cement. Nights have been warm and it's melting fast.

Maybe you could help me with a couple of IDs of some peaks to the south?:

Thanks for the report. The Ritter Range has such wonderfully rugged alpine character and this is really enhanced in early season. I recall my one early season visit to the Ritter Range in 1968. I didn't get any further than Lake Ediza, but the photos my dad took then are amazing. In the early 70's I went back with my dad and climbed Ritter and Banner, but this was a September trip and there wasn't too much snow.
Since my fishing (etc.) website is still down, you can be distracted by geology stuff at: http://www.fresnostate.edu/csm/ees/facu ... ayshi.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
